The idea behind colorizing/modding the characters in Monaco was to see some more insight in how the developer animated their assets. Other aspects is also adding a bit of color to the sprites during the lobby stage of the game, the original sprites were just white. Distinguishing which character were chosen was a bit confusing so I took the liberty to simply color the sprites to have the same color as the class allowing the players to see who they've chose. After looking at the concept art done by a fan (http://blog.brianfran.co/post/37651861887/more-monaco-doodles-recently-found-mr-karioks) on the Monaco community site it inspired me to add more detail into the sprites. The only time you really see the detail is when you're in game, but this is only a top down perspective thus you don't truly see the detail/style of the character. Essentially the coloration gives personality to the characters and adds to the lore that the game builds its story around.
