Simon Fan Design x Canon EOS M4 Concept

 

This is one of my design concepts for a brand new APSC Canon camera called the EOS M4 following the new naming scheme for Canon. This camera was inspired by all the brand new mirrorless cameras coming out and designing a ideal camera for myself. The concept of this camera was to use pre-existing parts that Canon already had and remaster it to be the best of both DSLR and mirrorless world. The comfort of DSLR + the compactness of a mirrorless system.

Features:

EFM - Opt'd for this mount so that a control ring can be added to this camera via adapter similar to the RF to EF adapter

1 slot for more casual shooters not needing the redundancy recording also saving space 

Uses the common LP-E6N type batteries so DSLR users can reuse old batteries

Both microphone and headphone jacks to maximize for video

6 custom buttons to maximize speed of usage

USB-C 3.1 port

3 dials allowing for Shutter, Aperture and ISO

Joystick for easy movement of focus points

Tilt / Articulating screen similar to XT100

Sensor cover when camera is off

Deep grip similar to SL2 

Side mounted card slot for easy access
