Contest Details

Battle gear according to the RWBY verse is fashionable--but functional--clothing that our characters wear in their normal day to day, out in the field. But here's the tricky part; I can't tell you what her weapon is. I know it'd help in designing her if you knew what it was, but trust me, guys; you'd rather see it! What I can tell you is her battle class. She's a mage. But not just your typical mage, no; she's... different. Velvet is agile and athletic, with a modest, modern taste in fashion. Due to her versatile fighting style, I'd advise against incorporating heavy armor, or armor of any sorts that could hinder her abilities. Rabbits are light on their feet, after all.

The Design Breakdown:

Dress

The dress is a cross between a ¼ zip pull over and a dress this part is almost a purely aesthetic piece. It contributes as a multiple layer design to increase protection. The dress has a high collar and a zipper pull that doubles as a minimalistic necklace. Her logo is embroidered on the back of the dress and a three leaf design is cut into the sleeves.

Three way stretch layer

This layer is looser then the dress but it provides the most protection without losing agility. Additional straps (white/grey) were added into this layer to keep the loose bits in order. The three way stretch allows velvet to freely move although slightly more rigid then the dress.

Pants

Velvet’s pants are similar to running shorts where it allows her to be active and stylish at the same time.

Boots

The boots were based on a running shoe and the idea of having less weight so it allows Velvet to be agile. The outsole is a split design where the front of the foot is one piece and the heel is another part. The arch of the foot is supported by an ankle support strap and the whole boot is held together by a strong spandex/stocking material. This is further reinforced by WW2 styled gaiters which support the arch as well as seconds as a shin/knee guard. The ankle support strap is a sturdier elastic material that snaps into the gaiter which allows Velvet the freedom of movement during battle situations.

Gloves

The gloves allow Velvet to have maximum grip on the weapon from the palm whereas allows her fingers to freely manipulate the weapon when needed. The additional extension of the glove to the finger allows a tiny bit more traction.

Belts/pouches/holster

The main belt is leather construction with a side belt for added stability. There are extended leather/other material on the side to keep the pouch from hitting her leg every time. On the other side is a holster. This can carry any staff weapon of any size and can be swapped out for more pouches. There is a belt located on the bottom of the pants this help keep that material from flapping around too aggressively during activity.
